Naisant kicked off the day with a solid 66.78m/219-1 throw in the javelin where he finished seventh over three flights. His qualifying mark came on his first throw of the day. It was 15.7 feet short of his personal best but that doesn't matter as he punched his ticket to nationals at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.

Marshall Jr. followed up Naisant's performance with a head turning second-place finish in the 110m hurdles to earn a chance to run again Friday night. The freshman already owned the program record, a 13.49 mark from the Pac-12 Championships, and he improved on that tonight with a 13.39 finish; His time was wind aided (2.8). Kentre Patterson also secured a spot Friday, running 13.73 to finish third in his heat and 15th overall.

Big man Turner Washington entered the meet with very little doubt that he'd advance in the shot and successfully continued his dominance by winning the event with a 20.74m/68.5 heave, two inches further than Texas' Adrian Piperi. The throw was a foot shy of his PR, but it is a new facility record.
