BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – Sophomore Hannah Scharf was named a WCGA Regular Season Second Team All-American after her strong performance in 2021 for Sun Devil Gymnastics, finishing the regular season ranked No. 16 in the nation.

The Canada native is the 30th All-American in program history and the second the Sun Devils have seen with Jay Santos as the head coach. Cairo Leonard-Baker was also named a WCGA Regular Season Second Team All-American in the all-around in 2018, as well as on bars in 2019. This is the 13th All-America nod for the all-around at Arizona State.

Scharf has had a break-out season for the Gym Devils, helping them to the strongest season since 2006. Competing in the all-around for every meet, she has won seven all-around titles, as well as five floor titles and two beam titles. She has scored a 9.900 or better 10 times and has the highest floor score by any Gym Devil this season with a 9.950. Improving across the board, she earned new career highs on bars (9.900), beam (9.925), floor (9.950) and in the all-around (39.550), as well as matching her personal best on vault (9.900).

In the rankings, she has been in the top-20 in the all-around for almost the whole season, as well being in the top 30 on floor. She earned a Pac-12 Gymnast of the Week award, the first Gym Devil to do so since 2009. Her efforts have helped the team earn its first top-10 ranking since 2006 and multiple scores over 197.000 for the first time since 2004. Arizona State also made its first appearance in the Pac-12 Championships night session, placing fourth for its best finish since 2006.

Student-athletes with the top eight National Qualifying Scores (NQS) for the regular season (with ties), for each event plus the all around earned All-America honors. Second team All America honors are earned by student-athletes ranked Nos. 9-16 (with ties) in the NQS. The complete list is on the WCGA website.

Next up for the Gym Devils is the Salt Lake City NCAA Regional. ASU earned a No. 11 seed and will compete in the first session of the second round on April 2.
