Notable Stats
  • Arizona State (1-2) came close to taking down the 2019 Pac-12 champion UCLA (1-0) in the Pac-12 opener. The Bruins led the entire meet until partway through the final rotation when the home team's errors on floor gave the Sun Devils the lead. However, UCLA had three scores of 9.900 or better in the back half of their lineup to take the win.
  • Hannah Scharf continues to be a bright spot for the Gym Devils. She took the all-around title with a score of 39.475, scoring a 9.875 on vault, bars and floor, as well as a 9.850 on beam. • Freshman Emily White competed in the all-around for the first time, taking third with a 39.150. She earned a career high on beam with 9.850 and matched her best scores on bars (9.850) and floor (9.650).
  • Freshman Jada Mangahas made her collegiate debut on beam, stepping in at the last minute and scoring a 9.775. She also earned a new career best on floor with a 9.850 and on vault with a 9.800.

Quotes
Arizona State Head Coach Jay Santos
"We came up short today and it's disappointing. We had an opportunity today and we didn't take advantage of it. Bars started us off strong again and I really like how we are swinging right now. I also definitely want to mention how strong the beam squad finished this meet for us; they were fantastic! Floor is where we need to be stronger right now and we have some work to do to clean up some things there. I know what this team is capable of and I want to see them perform that way."
