CLERMONT, Fla. - Sun Devil women's triathlon continued their spring slate this weekend, finishing up day one of the Clermont Draft Legal Challenge today. Two Sun Devils placed in the top-15 while all 10 placed in the top-45 of the event.
"There was a very competitive field with many national team women representing their countries," coach Cliff English said. "There was a strong showing from the team in very windy and rough conditions in the swim and bike portion of the race,"
2018 Individual National Champion Hannah Henry was the top finisher for ASU today, taking home ninth place with a time of 1:00:01.5. Kyla Roy finished not far behind in 15th place, crossing the finish line at 1:00:37.8.
"Eveyrone fought for every position," English said. "It's a good check in to see where early season fitness is for us. We're looking forward to towing the line next week and then putting in some more hard work and training for races this summer."
2019 USA Triathlon Division I Freshman of the Year Liberty Ricca was the next Sun Devil finisher, as she took 21st place with a time of 1:01:37. Kira Stanley finished seconds later at 1:01:44.3.
Audrey Ernst took home 25th place (1:02:02.9), Gal Rubanenko 29th place (1:03:17.5) and Catherine Giuseffi in 33rd (1:04:04.4) followed their teammates. Rounding out the Sun Devils were Rebecca Naughton (39th, 1:04:55.7), Sarah Quintero (40th, 1:05:46.6) and Olivia Jenks (44th, 1:08:00.7).
Kenzi Wilson also represented ASU today, placing 36th in the EDR U25 race.
