TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil men's and women's swimming and diving are set to compete for the final time at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center this season on Saturday (Feb. 8), welcoming in the Arizona Wildcats for their Territorial Cup Series meet as well as senior day. 13 seniors will be honored in a ceremony before action commences.
Youssef Selim, Kevin Benavidez, Nick Carlson, Jackson Etter, Matthew Kint, Jack Kucharczyk, Ben Olszewski, Zach Poti, Aaron Beauchamp, Chloe Isleta, Silja Kansakoski, Cierra Runge and Kendall Dawson are the 13 being honored.
Action between the Sun Devils and Wildcats is set for a noon MST start time, and fans can attend the event for free. The meet is set to be a good one, as the men look to upset the Arizona men for the second season in a row.
In Tucson last year, action came down to the final relay of the day, with the then No. 17 Sun Devils taking a slim 159.5-140.5 win over the then No. 15 Wildcats. This time around, the ASU men are currently at No. 13 while the Arizona men sit at No. 10.
The ASU women are also looking for a win against Arizona as both squads were not ranked in the last TYR Top 25 Dual Meet Poll. Emma Nordin looks to lead the women's charge on Saturday, one week after the took home three wins last time out against No. 1/10 Texas.
Nordin took the top mark in the 1000, 500 and 200 freestyle events, the first time in her career she took home three wins in a single dual match. She currently leads the team in several events including the 1000 and 1650 freestyle events.
The postseason is also upon the Sun Devils soon, with the Pac-12 Women's Swimming and Men's and Women's Diving Championships taking place during the last week of February. The Pac-12 Men's Swimming Championship follows the week afterward, and then it's on to the Zone E Championship in Flagstaff for Selim. He looks to qualify for the national championship to secure a ticket in all four years as a Sun Devil.
As always, Saturday's meet is free to the public. Fans can keep up with the action all season long by following @ASUSwimDive on Twitter.
