TEMPE, Ariz. – Behind a season-high team score, Arizona State gymnastics took down No. 10 Cal 196.300-196.250 on Saturday at Desert Financial Arena for the first win over a top-10 team since 2014.

"I would hope this is a huge confidence builder for us. We've been kind of struggling the first few meets of the season to put it all together. Cal is a great team, and to be able to hold them off and finish the meet is great. This is what we've been seeing in practice the last few weeks and it just never made its way into the arena. It all came together and I'm really proud of what we did today. I hope they take this momentum and run with it."
On the season high team score
"They've been working hard and producing in the gym and it just wasn't quite showing up. Last week got away from us, but we don't want to question every little thing when what we're doing in the gym is working. We are just trying to focus on that and get back to work. We did a lot of that this week and things went well so I think building that confidence over the last few weeks really helped. All in all, a pretty solid meet."
On Gracie Reeves three career-highs
"The whole freshman group is talented. They just need some more experience. Once they start settling in, there will be lots of big things coming from them. We're in meet five, that experience is coming and Gracie has shown herself as a competitor. I wouldn't say I'm surprised, but I am pretty happy with her performance."

The Sun Devils started the meet with a bang, scoring their highest vault total of the season. Freshmen Boyer, Scharf and Reeves all earned career highs, scoring 9.850, 9.875 and 9.825, respectively. Wilson also added in a strong 9.800.
Rotation Two: Bars, 49.225
The bars squad were on fire, with all five scores that counted over 9.825. That gave ASU its highest event total of the season for any apparatus. Boyer, Wilson, Reeves and Leonard-Baker all scored 9.850. For Reeves, it was a new career high, and for Wilson it tied her career high.
Rotation Three: Beam, 48.900
Megan Thompson led off the third rotation with a 9.825, tying her career high. Reeves continued her strong night by scoring a 9.825, a new career high for her. The beam total was the second-highest of the season for ASU.
Rotation Four: Floor, 49.050
The Gym Devils surpassed 49.000 for the second time this season on floor after four scored a 9.800 or better in the final rotation. Boyer, Scharf and Jessica Ginn all earned 9.825s to lead the floor crew, with Wilson earning a 9.800 in her season debut on floor.

- Arizona State (4-3) led No. 10 Cal (5-4) for the entire meet, earning a second-consecutive win over the Bears in Tempe. ASU scored a 49.000-plus on three events (vault, bars and floor), the first time this season surpassing that mark in more than one event.
- This was the first top-10 win for the Sun Devils since 2014 when they beat No. 8 San Jose State in the first meet of that season.

- Reeves' vault had a 10.0 start value, the only person on the team to have that difficulty level on vault. She scored a 9.825, a career high.
