Ja'Tavia Tapley, who played a big role in helping the Sun Devil women's basketball team capture its seventh consecutive 20-win season in 2019-20, has signed a professional contract in Italy to play with Pallacanestro Vigarano, according to Eurobasket.com.

After joining the program as a graduate transfer from USC in 2019, Tapley would prove to be a difference maker as the six-foot-three post would go on to earn All-Pac-12 honors from the media and All-Pac-12 honorable mention recognition for the coaches for a season in which she led ASU in scoring (11.6 ppg), rebounds (6.2/11th in the Pac-12), blocks (0.6 bpg) and free throws made (67).

In December, Tapley posted three consecutive double-doubles for points/rebounds: vs. BYU (11 points/career-high 18 rebounds), vs. Idaho St. (15 points/11 rebounds) and vs. New Mexico (12 points/12 rebounds). During that stretch, she averaged 12.7 ppg and 13.7 rpg. The 18 rebounds vs. BYU were the most by a Sun Devil in more than 20 years. Tapley was named Ann Meyers Drysdale National Player of the Week, espnW National Player of the Week and Pac-12 Player of the Week after leading ASU in scoring (15.0 ppg), rebounds (6.0 rpg) and field goal percentage (48.0) in its historic upsets of No. 2 Oregon (Jan. 10) and No. 3 Oregon St. (Jan. 12). She for 16 points and six rebounds vs. Oregon and posted a game-high 14 points and six rebounds vs. OSU.

Last season, ASU won 20 or more games for the seventh-straight season and was ranked No. 25 in the final AP poll. The Sun Devils were preparing to make their school record seventh straight trip to the NCAA Tournament before the cancellation of the season was announced by the NCAA on March 12. One of the biggest highlights of the 2019-20 season came in January when ASU became the first unranked team to defeat consecutive Top-5 opponents after defeating then-No. 2 Oregon (72-66 on Jan. 10) and then-No. 3 Oregon State (54-47 on Jan. 12).
