Tempe, Ariz. --- No. 26 Arizona State women's tennis split their doubleheader Saturday for their 10th win of the season. The ladies redeemed themselves against Cal Poly in a clean sweep after dropping the match against Texas Tech in the final two singles sets.

"It's really just about pride and being tough as much as anything," said head coach Sheila McInerney. "It's really nothing else but the basics of competing, you just go out there and compete."

#26 Arizona State 4, Cal Poly 0

Senior pair Savannah Slaysman and Sammi Hampton led the Sun Devils to victory on court two by 6-2. However, the Cal Poly pair was not willing to go down so easily as they dominated on court three leaving court one to be the determining match point. In a tenacious match, junior Tereza Kolarova and senior Ilze Hattingh battled against Emily Monaghan and Emily Ackerman. Much like their earlier match, they claimed the doubles point 7-5.

The Sun Devils went on to sweep on courts two, one and four. Senior Sammi Hampton was tested against Moanghan in the first set with a 7-5 win and went on to shut her down 6-0. No. 38 Hattingh was close behind finishing her singles match, defeating Susanne Boyden 6-1 and 6-3.

Slaysman confirmed the ASU victory by defeating Kim Bhunu. In the first set the two tested each other, but Slaysman came out on top with a 7-5 win. Bhunu attempted to push Slaysman to a third set however Slaysman was determined to finish the set and match.
