Remy Martin earned Pac-12 First-Team men's basketball honors while Alonzo Verge Jr. earned the league's Sixth Man of the Year Award in a vote of the 12 head coaches, the Pac-12 announced Monday.
Martin earned the Sixth Man of the Year Award in 2017-18 as a freshman, earned second-team All-Pac-12 as a sophomore last year and made the jump to first-team in his junior season.
Martin ranks second in the league in scoring (19.13 ppg), eighth in assists (4.1 pg), 15th in free throw percentage (.772), tied for seventh in steals (1.52 pg). In conference games only he is averaging 20 points per game (second) and 4.11 assists (seventh). He leads the conference in 20-point games with 18.
VERGE SURGE: Alonzo Verge Jr., who earned 2020 Pac-12 Sixth Man of the Year, is averaging 16.8 points per game off the bench (19 games) which leads the nation entering play this week. After averaging 6.2 ppg., going 1-of-9 from the three-point stripe and shooting 11-of-45 (.244) from the field in his first five Pac-12 games, Verge after that five-game span is averaging 17.3 points, is 87-of-176 (.494) from the field and 37-of-52 (.712) from the foul line in the past past 13 games. In ASU's seven-game win streak he averaged 20.6 ppg., was 53-of-100 (.530) from the field, 7-of-18 (.389) from three and 31-of-43 (.721) from the free throw line.

ROAD REMY: Remy Martin averaged 22.6 ppg. and had eight 20-point games in ASU's 11 true road contests (6-5) this year. He led the team last year in road scoring at 15.0 ppg and in his freshman season was 11-of-23 (.478) from three and 24-of-29 (.828) from free throw line in road games. Solid stat: He has posted 10 games of 24+ points in his career, seven of them have been on the road.
