LOS ANGELES – Jayde Van Hyfte tied her career high with 12 points to help lead the Arizona State women's basketball team to a 63-54 win over USC on Sunday, snapping ASU's two-game losing streak.

Eleven different Sun Devils scored in Sunday's win. Robbi Ryan and Eboni Walker tied with eight points each while Taya Hanson added seven points. The Sun Devil bench was responsible for 30 points, just under half of the team's point total for the afternoon. Walker's eight points represented the top point total for Sun Devil reserves.

The Sun Devils were outrebounded for the first time this season as USC concluded the game with a 36-30 advantage. Ja'Tavia Tapley, Kiara Russell and Jamie Ruden had four rebounds each to pace the Sun Devils. Iris Mbulito had a team high four assists while Russell, Mbulito and Ruden tied for the team lead in steals with two.

The opportunistic Sun Devils took advantage of USC's miscues, scoring 27 points off of USC's 21 turnovers.

Both the Sun Devils (11-4, 1-2 Pac-12) and Trojans (8-6, 0-3) came into Sunday's game winless in Pac-12 play as both teams dropped contests to No. 18 Arizona and No. 10 UCLA. In ASU's case, both losses were by five points or less and were games where ASU had a chance to take the lead or tie in the final minute of the game.

There would be no such end-of-game suspense on Sunday as the Sun Devils took control of the game early and were able to bring a double-digit lead into the fourth quarter.

Van Hyfte led ASU with eight points in the first half, one of 10 Sun Devils that scored over the first 20 minutes.

After falling behind by five points early, the Sun Devils came to life with an 11-0 run over the last three minutes of the quarter. Five different Sun Devils –Hanson (3-pointer), Russell (layup), Ruden (jumper), Mbulito (layup), Walker (layup) – contributed to the scoring spree.

The Sun Devils started the second quarter with a 5-0 run – 3-pointer by Sara Bejedi and a jumper by Ja'Tavia Tapley – to extend their lead to 13 points, 24-11.

Neither team scored for more than two minutes after the Trojans pulled within seven midway through the second quarter.

Ruden and Van Hyfte broke the scoring drought with back-to-back layups. Ryan's jumper with 1:13 left in the half made it a 6-0 run for the Sun Devils, who were once again up by 13 points, 34-21. ASU would eventually take a 36-24 lead to the locker room.

The Sun Devils maintained a double-digit lead for nearly the entire second half. Ryan's basket two minutes into the fourth quarter gave ASU its largest lead of the game, 58-38. A late surge by the Trojans got USC as close as eight points but it could not get any closer.

The Sun Devils return to action on Friday when they host No. 2 Oregon at 6 p.m. at Desert Financial Arena.
