TEMPE, Ariz. - Arizona State beach volleyball has signed six players to National Letters of Intent (NLI) who will join the 2021 roster.

"I am super excited about our incoming class," Arizona State head coach Brad Keenan said. "I look forward to seeing their growth as players and the positive impact they can have on this program."

The Sun Devils will bring in six newcomers next season from all across the country. Taryn Ames, Malina Baker, Lila Bordis, Cambria Hall, Maia Nichols and Ivey Weber will all join Arizona State in 2021. 

Taryn Ames 
Phoenix, Ariz. | Desert Vista High School | 5-8
  • Led Desert Vista to its first beach volleyball state title in 2019, playing at the ones spot.
  • Played for RPM Sand.
  • Took first at the AVP Zonal Championship in February 2018.
  • Placed third at AAU Nationals in July 2018.
  • Played libero for her indoor team at Desert Vista.
  • For indoor volleyball, played for East Valley Juniors Volleyball Club.
  • Member of the National Honors Society and Rho Kappa (Social Studies Honors Society).
  • Parents are Jeff and Janet, and has two older siblings: Preston and Griffin. 
  • Her father Jeff played college basketball, her oldest brother Preston is playing professional hockey in Europe, and her older brother Griffin plays hockey at Boise State.
  • Hopes to pursue a career in business by studying at the W.P. Carey School of Business.

Malina Baker

Burlingame, Calif. | Burlingame High School | 5-10
  • Played for Santa Cruz Beach Volleyball Club.
  • Fifth at the Australian Junior Beach Volleyball Championships.
  • First place at the New South Wales State Championships.
  • Ninth place at AAU Junior Olympics.
  • First at AAU Mesquite Beach.
  • Seoncd at AVP First New York City.
  • Played right side on her indoor team.
  • Parents are Banks and Jennifer, and has two younger siblings: Emerson and Sophia.
  • Previously lived in Singapore for two years and traveled to Australia to play volleyball.
  • Hopes to pursue a career in field research.

Lila Bordis

Thibodaux, La. | Edward Douglas White Catholic High School | 5-9
  • Played for Digs Beach Volleyball Club.
  • Lettered in each year of her high school indoor career and was also the team captain.
  • Offensive and Defensive District MVP.
  • Named First Team All-District from 2015-19.
  • Reached 3000 career kills.
  • Named all-state, all-region MVP and player of the year during her high school career.
  • Also played basketball in high school.
  • Made the Dean's List for four years.
  • Parents are Lance and Dianne, and has two older siblings: Blake and Sydney.
  • Hopes to pursue a career in dentistry.

Cambria Hall

Laguna Beach, Calif. | Laguna Beach High School | 5-8
  • Played for Laguna Beach Volleyball Club for indoor and Tamarack Beach Volleyball Club for beach volleyball.
  • Won the 18U Indoor National Championship in 2018.
  • Named to the All-Tournament Team at the indoor championship in 2018.
  • With her indoor high school team, placed second in CIF last year.
  • Also took second in CIF with her beach volleyball team.
  • Parents are Lance and Ann, has three siblings: Avalon, Chase and Alex.
  • Hopes to become an entrepreneur or pursue a career in business.

Maia Nichols

Olympia, Wash. | Capital High School | 5-8
  • Helped Capital High School to a state championship in indoor volleyball her sophomore season.
  • Named MVP for state as a sophomore.
  • Played for DaKine Beach Volleyball Club.
  • Took fifth place at BVCA (Beach Volleyball Clubs of America) in the 18U in 2019.
  • Won AVP First Seattle 2019.
  • Was part of DECA since her junior year and placed third at State in her first competition.
  • Parents are Brian and Holly and has one younger sister named Madison.
  • Her mother Holly played indoor volleyball at San Jose State.
  • Hopes to pursue a career in real estate.

Ivey Weber

Georgetown, Texas | Georgetown High School | 5-9
  • Played with Texas Volleyball Tour for beach volleyball.
  • Named one of the top 25 beach players in Texas.
  • Made the 2017 A2 Zonal Junior Beach Training Team roster for USA Volleyball.
  • Three-year varsity starter at outside hitter on her indoor team at Georgetown.
  • Completed varsity career with 653 kills, 83 blocks, 913 digs and 114 aces.
  • First Team All-District outside hitter.
  • 2019-20 All-District MVP.
  • National Honor Society member for all four years of high school.
  • Parents are Mark and Jennifer, and has four older siblings: Madison, Gus, Lulu and Miguel.
  • Her father Mark played football at the University of Texas and her brother played college lacrosse.
  • Hopes to pursue a career in nursing.
