ATLANTA, Ga. – 14 Sun Devils will take the starting block among the best of the best in the United States at the 2019 Toyota U.S. Open Championships in Atlanta beginning this Wednesday. The event, taking place at the Georgia Tech McAuley Aquatics Center, represents one of the biggest international meets this season until the Olympics and will feature many Olympic hopefuls.
 
Six women will represent ASU in the event in Kendall Dawson, Jade Foelske, Silja Kansakoski, Erica Laning, Lindsay Looney and Cierra Runge. Foelske and Looney show proof of a talented freshman squad as the two first-year Sun Devils to quality for the meet.
 
A couple women also swam a qualifying mark to participate in five events, including Dawson and Runge (100, 200, 400, 800, 1500 free) while others will take part in four events in Foelske (100, 200 fly, 200, 400 IM), Laning (100, 200, 400, 800 free) and Looney (100, 200 fly, 200 free, 200 IM). Kansakoski rounds out ASU in the Open set to take place in her signature events of the 100 and 200 breast.
 
Eight men are also set to take the block in Atlanta in Liam Bresette, Cody Bybee, Evan Carlson, Alex Colson, Jack Dolan, Julian Hill, Zach Poti and Carter Swift. Colson, Dolan and Hill join Foelske and Looney as freshmen to make the cut.
 
Colson qualified for the most events among the men, swimming in the 200 and 400 IM, 100 and 200 fly and 200 free. Bybee (50, 100, 200 free, 100 fly), Dolan (50, 100, 200 free, 100 back), Hill (100, 200, 400 free, 200 IM) and Poti (500 free, 100 fly, 100, 200 back) will compete in four events and Bresette (100, 200, 400 free), Carlson (50, 100 free, 200 fly) and Swift (50, 100, 200 free) finish off the Sun Devils with three events each.
 
The preliminary round will take place each morning at 8 a.m. MST while the finals begin at 5 p.m. MST each day.
 
All sessions will be broadcast live, with each day's preliminary round viewable on USA Swimming's website. The finals each day will be split between USA Swimming and broadcast live on NBC, with day one and two's finals available on USA Swimming and day three and four available on NBC Sports and NBCSports.com.
