EAST LANSING, Mich. – No. 16/15 Sun Devil Hockey's unbeaten streak ended at six games Sunday in a thrilling late afternoon contest, as No. 18 Michigan State scored in overtime for a 1-0 win at Munn Ice Arena.

Sophomore goaltender Evan DeBrouwer was near perfect, posting 35 saves for his fourth-straight 30-save performance.

"It's a tough loss," said head coach Greg Powers. "I feel for our guys who battled hard. We just couldn't find the back of the net. You're not going to win the game if you don't score. Defensively we were pretty good and don't think we gave up very much."

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • A back-and-forth affair ensued for 60 minutes of regulation play, with both teams having their fair share of scoring opportunities. Both goalies kept their team in it, with DeBrouwer making 33 saves in regulation and Lethemon saving all 35 he faced.
  • A turnover and breakdown in the defensive zone was all it took for Michigan State, as leading goal scorer Mitchell Lewandowski capitalized in front on a centering pass all alone in overtime.
GAME FACTS:
  • The Sun Devils unbeaten streak ended at six games, suffering their first loss in over a month (Nov. 8).
  • The shutout is just the second time ASU has been held off the scoreboard this season – the only other being on Oct. 12 against then-No. 3 Minnesota State.
  • It is the second time this season the Devils have lost a game in which they've had 35 or more shots on goal – the first being game one of the season against Mercyhurst.
  • Despite splitting the series, the Sun Devil special teams was a tale of two sides. While the penalty kill fought off all five Spartan opportunities, the power play finished 0-for-7 in the series and 0-for-3 in the 1-0 loss Sunday.
