TEMPE, Ariz. -- The No. 16 Sun Devil men's swimming and diving squad earned their first home win over the USC Trojans for the first time in 16 years, easily taking a 184-109 victory on Friday afternoon at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. The No. 25 women took on the seventh-ranked Trojans as well, fighting a close meet throughout but ultimately falling 184-113.

THE DETAILS
Several upperclassmen contributed multiple wins including distance swimmers Benjamin Olszewski and Emma Nordin. Olszewski turned heads after defeating 2019 Pac-12 Champion Victor Johansson in the 500 free, taking first place and teammate Liam Bresette taking second. Olszewski was one of four Sun Devils to win multiple events, joining Nordin (500, 1000 free), Evan Carlson (50, 100 free) and Zach Poti (100, 200 back).

The talented freshmen class also continued to prove themselves today, with Jack Dolan (200 free) and Lindsay Looney (200 fly) taking first in events throughout the afternoon. The Sun Devils won 14 of the 28 events this afternoon, taking an even split against the Trojans.

Over in the diving well, Youssef Selim again excelled, taking first place in both the one-meter and three-meter events for the second meet in a row. Selim achieved a zone qualifying score in both events last time out, but improved on those scores against USC. Kaellgren also took the board this afternoon, taking fourth in both springboard events.

With the win, the men improve to 2-0 on the season, tying for their best start since 2017.
