TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels and freshman offensive lineman Dohnovan West were both named to The Athletic's midseason freshman All-America team, announced by the website on Wednesday.

Daniels is 11th nationally and first in the Pac-12 in pass yards per completion (14.50) while his 9.15 yards per pass attempt are 12th in the FBS. He is 13th in the FBS (second in the Pac-12) with 301.3 yards of total offense per game - tops among all FBS freshmen. His 1,610 passing yards and 268.3 passing yards per game are both 19th in the FBS. The true freshman is tied for fifth nationally in fewest interceptions with only one to date. He is 30th nationally with a passing efficiency of 153.8. Daniels has been exceptional on third downs this season, with his 444 passing yards on third downs good for 12th in the country. His 175.49 passer rating on third down is 13th nationally while throwing for 19 first downs - the 21st-best total in the FBS. Daniels has accounted for 474 total yards of offense and four touchdowns in the fourth quarter of games (401 passing, 73 rushing). His 401 passing yards in the fourth quarter are seventh nationally. Already named the Pac-12's Freshman of the Week three times this season, Daniels has engineered three come-from-behind wins in the fourth quarter, most recently this past Saturday when he led ASU 75 yards in the final minutes of its 38-34 win over Washington State. Daniels accounted for every yard on the drive, completing 7-of-9 passes for 58 yards and running 17 yards for the touchdown with 34 seconds remaining.

West has consistently been one of ASU's top performers on the offensive line this season. Also a true freshman, West was moved into the starting lineup prior to ASU's season opener after center Cade Cote sustained an injury days before the game. Equally impressive has been West's versatility. After starting the first two games at center, West moved to right guard where he has maintained his high level of play. West and the Sun Devil offensive line have provided time for Daniels to complete 63 percent of his passes and post three 300-yard passing games and have opened holes for running back Eno Benjamin to run for 100 or more yards three times and score a Pac-12-high seven rushing touchdowns. West is the 30th-highest graded offensive player in the Pac-12 this season (72.1) and the 36th highest-graded guard in the nation, according to Pro Football Focus. However, that grade includes his first two weeks as a center as well. Since shifting to guard in Week 3, West has been the seventh-highest graded guard in the country.

The Sun Devils (5-1, 2-1 Pac-12), ranked No. 17 in this week's AP poll, return to action on Saturday when they travel to Salt Lake City to face No. 13 Utah (5-1, 2-1). Kickoff at Utah's Rice-Eccles Stadium is scheduled for 4 p.m. MT (3 p.m. in Arizona). The game can be seen on Pac-12 Networks and heard on 98.7 FM Arizona Sports.
