The most exciting player in college basketball has earned another preseason mention.

The Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame has announced the 20 watch list candidates for the 2020 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award, and Sun Devil junior Remy Martin is on the list.

A checklist of Remy things below...

--ASU had been to four NCAA Tournaments (1995, 2003, 2009 and 2014) in 26 seasons (1992-2017) and had not made March Madness in back-to-back years since 1980-81, but Remy has played in the NCAA Tournament in each of hist first two seasons, as four years after hiring Bobby Hurley, ASU is the only Pac-12 school to make the NCAAs the last two seasons

--Everyone loves Remy. Those in maroon and gold really love Remy because his two best scoring games are 31 (95-88 double overtime win on Jan. 31) and 27 (final game of regular season on road on March 9) as he led ASU to first sweep over Arizona since 2008-09 and first win in Tucson since 2010.

--ASU has averaged 80.04 points per game the past two seasons, tops in the Pac-12, and a big reason why is Remy's ability to push the ball and find open shooters any way possible (between the leg passes are somewhat normal).

--Earned second-team All-Pac-12 honors by the league's coaches in 2018-19 and was the Dec. 17, 2018, Pac-12 Player of the Week. Notched 21 points, grabbed a career-best eight rebounds, and added five assists and three steals to spark the Sun Devils back from an 18-point deficit to a 76-74 victory at Georgia on Dec. 15, leading to his Dec. 17 Pac-12 Player of the Week Award. He had 12 points, five boards, two assists and two steals in the second half, including back-to-back baskets inside the final 3:11 which gave ASU its first lead of the game at 71-70

--Led the Pac-12 with a 2.4 assist-to-turnover ratio and second in league at five assists per game.

--Had his November and early December of 2018 ruined by a bum ankle but was the only player with 11-assist in a Pac-12 road game last year (11 at UCLA) and his 10 made free throws vs. Arizona matched the most in a league tilt.

Named after Class of 1971 Hall of Famer and former Boston Celtic and Holy Cross guard Bob Cousy, the annual honor now in its seventeenth year recognizes the top point guards in Division I men's college basketball. A national committee of top college basketball personnel determined the watch list of 20 candidates.

"Since 2004, the Hall of Fame has had the honor of bestowing the Bob Cousy Award on the best point guards in the collegiate game, forming an amazing list of award winners who have gone on to have tremendous success at the professional level," said John L. Doleva, President and CEO of the Basketball Hall of Fame.

"This year, we are excited to announce Starting Five Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies, which will allow fans to voice their opinions and support their favorite players in each of the three rounds. We greatly appreciate the support of Dell Technologies, the fans, our selection committee and the namesake of the award, Mr. Bob Cousy."

Bob Cousy played for Holy Cross from 1946-1950 winning an NCAA Championship in 1947. He was named a Consensus First-Team All-American in 1950. His success continued at the professional level as a six-time NBA Champion (1957, 1959-1963), NBA Most Valuable Player (1957) and 13-time NBA All-Star (1951-63). In 1996, he was named a member of the NBA's 50th Anniversary All-Time Team. New to the award this season is Fan Voting presented by Dell Technologies in each of the three rounds. By mid-February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2020 Bob Cousy Point Guard of the Year Award will be narrowed to just 10. In March, five finalists will be presented to Mr. Cousy and the Hall of Fame's selection committee. The winner of the 2020 Bob Cousy Award will be presented at The College Basketball Awards presented by Wendy's in Los Angeles, CA on Friday, April 10, 2020, along with the other four members of the Men's Starting Five.

Additional awards being presented and receiving support from Eaton Ephesus Lighting include the Jerry West Shooting Guard Award, the Julius Erving Small Forward Award, the Karl Malone Power Forward Award and the Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center Award, in addition to the Women's Starting Five. Broadcast information will be released by ESPN at a later date.
