TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devil Lacrosse team hosted its inaugural Alumni and Friends Scrimmage, Sunday morning at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.

A back-and-forth battle between the Maroon and Gold side ended with a 17-11 Gold victory. A total of 15 different Sun Devils recorded a goal, as the depth of the program was on full display the entire contest. Coach McCormack and his staff played everyone on the roster, an opportunity that several young players took advantage of. The Maroon & Gold format allowed the coaches to experiment with different lineup combinations. Arizona State welcomed back Sydney Bosmans and Rachel Gregory, a duo that helped lay the foundation for Sun Devil Lacrosse as the first two seniors in program history. Friends of the program Brooke Jones and Alyssa Guido were also a part of the victorious Gold team.

Attackers Kerri Clayton and Carley Adams led the way offensively, each accounting for four goals. Sophomore Katie Brodsky was all over the field, compiling three goals and two assists on the day. Goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau reminded fans why she finished fifth in the country in saves last season, saving seven shots, with several acrobatic denials.

Emma Carlson, Taylor Carson, Kate Dougherty, Graci Fulkerson, Kate Gauntlett, Maura Cissel, Kylie Kroeger, Kaylon Buckner, Paige McGlothlin, Emily Glagolev, Lia Willis, and Brynn Holohan each recorded at least one goal. Goalkeepers Lindsey Spies and Sophia Thomas both saw playing time, as Thomas finished with three saves while Spies ended with four.

A talented freshman class saw their first game action in Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium, providing Sun Devil fans a glimpse into the future of the program. Anna Winkeler, Kate Gauntlett, Brynn Holohan, Lindsey Spies, Tess Keiser, Paige Wilkinson, Lindy Webb, and Lizzie Heyn all showed flashes of brilliance and earned valuable game experience.

The Maroon team, which was made up only Arizona State players, jumped out to 5-3 lead after the first period. The Gold team, which included the four Alumni & Friends, was not phased, as they came back with an excellent effort in the second and third period. They outscored Maroon 8-3 in an up-tempo second period to take a lead into the third and final session. Over the last 30 minutes, both sides provided plenty of highlight-reel moments. Maroon cut into the lead early in the third period, but the Gold attack sealed the victory with an excellent final push.
