TEMPE, Ariz. – The Sun Devil swimming and diving squads are off to a hot start, with the men pulling in a No. 14 ranking and the women the No. 25 spot in the preseason CSCAA Division I Poll. Keeping a reputation as elite while showing improvement in just one year's time, the men earned the same ranking in the preseason poll in 2018 while the women were unranked this time last year.

With the 2019-20 season kicking off in two weeks, the swim squad took the opportunity for a chance to tune up before the season with the annual intrasquad meet on Sept. 27. The team uses the Intrasquad to introduce freshmen to the high level of swimming and organization demanded in a collegiate meet. The group did not disappoint, as four rookies took first place including Jack Dolan (200 free), Lindsay Looney (200 fly), Alex Colson (200 fly) and Julian Hill (500 free).

Aside from the freshmen showing out, several upperclassmen also dominated in the scrimmage. Chloe Isleta (100 back, 200 back), Zach Poti (100 back, 200 back) and Nora Deleske (200 breast, 200 IM) all won multiple events that evening.

Coach Bowman also cited other upperclassmen as those to watch this season, including Cierra RungeErica Laning, Kendall Dawson, Emma NordinNora Deleske Liam BresetteCody BybeeEvan CarlsonCarter Swift and Zach Poti. Various Sun Devils, including many of those Bowman mentioned, participated in high-level events throughout the summer including the Phillips 66 National Championships in Stanford, Calif.

The Sun Devil swimming and diving squads begin their 2019-20 campaign in Salt Lake against Utah on Oct. 25. Fans can keep up with the action all season-long by following @ASUSwimDive on Twitter.
