Benjamin, a Wylie, Texas naive, finished Friday's game with 100 yards on the ground – his 11th career game rushing for 100 or more yards - and tied his career-high with three touchdowns to lead ASU to its second road victory over a ranked opponent this season. With his 11th 100-yard rushing effort in Friday's game, Benjamin has moved into a tie with Sun Devil great Darryl Harris for eighth-place in ASU school history.
The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also exhibits the enduring characteristics that define Earl Campbell: integrity, performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, drive, community and tenacity; specifically, tenacity to persist and determination to overcome adversity and injury in pursuit of reaching goals. In addition, the nominee must meet one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas high school and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or four-year college.
The Sun Devils will be off this week, but will return to action on Saturday, Oct. 12, for an important matchup with Washington State. Kickoff in that contest has been set for 12:30 p.m. PT and the game will be televised on the Pac-12 Network.
