AUGUSTA, Ga. – The inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur event will take place April 3-6, 2019 and five current and future Sun Devils have been invited and accepted their invitations to play in the prestigious tournament on the storied course.
Freshman Alessandra Fanali (Fiuggi, Italy), senior Sofia Anokhina (Moscow, Russia), and junior Olivia Mehaffey (Belfast, Northern Ireland) have been named to the list while Linn Grant (Viken, Sweden) and Amanda Linner (Onsala, Sweden), who signed their National Letters of Intent and will start school at ASU in fall 2019, have also been named.
The international field will play 54 holes of stroke play, with a cut to 30 after 36 holes, the week before the Masters Tournament. The first two rounds will take place on the Island and Bluff nines at Champions Retreat Golf Club Apr. 3-4 and the final round will take place at Augusta National on Apr. 6. The entire field will also play an official practice round at Augusta National on Apr. 5.
Augusta National is one of the most famous and exclusive golf clubs in the world, home to the Masters Tournament since 1934, the only major played each year at the same course. It was ranked No. 10 based on course architecture on Golfweek Magazine's 2011 list of best classic courses in the United States.
Tickets to the inaugural tournament are sold out following an online ticket application process and no tickets will be available at the gates.
