ATLANTA - Arizona State head football coach Herm Edwards has been selected as The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week, officials from the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation and Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl announced on Tuesday.

The Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week award honors a football coach who led his team to a significant victory during the previous week, while also embodying the award's three pillars of scholarship, leadership and integrity.

Edwards led the Sun Devils to a 10-7 upset of No. 18 Michigan State in East Lansing on Saturday. The win marked Arizona State's first victory against a ranked, non-conference team on the road since 1997. The Sun Devils have now won their last five games against ranked, non-conference opponents dating back to 2011, including a victory over Michigan State at home last season.

Edwards, in only his second season with the team, has led Arizona State to its first 3-0 start since 2016 and just its third 3-0 start since 2008. He has now defeated three ranked opponents in just two seasons.

"The return of Herm Edwards to the sidelines is clearly paying dividends for the Arizona State football program," said Jim Terry, chairman of the Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year Foundation. "Coach Dodd would have great respect for what coach Edwards has done on the field and in the communities he calls home."

"When you hire a man like Herm Edwards, you understand his impact will run well beyond just winning on the field," said Gary Stokan, CEO and president of Peach Bowl, Inc. "You would be hard-pressed to find an individual in the sport who exemplifies scholarship, leadership and integrity more than Herm."

The Dodd Trophy presented by the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl – along with the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week Award – celebrates the head coach of a FBS team who enjoys success on the gridiron, while also stressing the importance of scholarship, leadership and integrity.

On Monday, Sun Devil freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels (Freshman of the Week) and sophomore defensive end Jermayne Lole (Defensive Lineman of the Week) both earned Pac-12 Player of the Week recognition for their performances in Saturday's win.

The Sun Devils (3-0), ranked No. 24 in this week's AP poll, return to action on Saturday when they host Colorado in the Pac-12 opener for both teams. Kickoff at Sun Devil Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. MST. Single-game tickets for ASU's next three home games – vs. Colorado (Sept. 21), vs. Washington State (Oct. 12) and vs. USC (Nov. 9) – are currently on sale and can be purchased at www.sundeviltickets.com or by contacting the Sun Devil Athletics Ticket Office at 480-727-0000
