TEMPE, Ariz. -- Arizona State freshman quarterback Jayden Daniels has been named to the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-American Watch List, announced by the organization Friday morning.
A four-year varsity starter at Cajon High School, Daniels compiled a 44-10 record including back-to-back seasons with at least 12 wins. He threw for a CIF-Southern Section record 14,007 yards and 170 touchdowns during a historic four-year career at Cajon High School, adding 3,645 rushing yards on 562 attempts and 41 rushing touchdowns showing off his unique athleticism. He finished the 2018 campaign completing 287-of-406 (70.7%) passes for 4,515 yards and 60 touchdowns compared to just four interceptions, posting a 142.8 quarterback rating during an outstanding senior season.
Daniels, who was named the Sun Devil's starter during preseason camp, entered ASU as a consensus four-star prospect among the major recruiting services. Daniels was ranked as the No. 83 overall prospect and the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the country in 24/7 Sports' Composite Rankings, while 24/7 Sports lists him as the No. 1 dual-threat quarterback prospect nationally in their own rankings he was tabbed by Rivals as the No. 107 overall prospect and the No. 3 dual-threat quarterback prospect in the nation.

One of 12 Pac-12 players to be named to the watch list, Daniels was joined by Jalen Curry (Arizona), Drake Jackson (USC), Sean Rhyan (UCLA), Dimitri Stanley (Colorado), Mark Perry (Colorado), Mycah Pittman (Oregon), Kayvon Thibodeaux (Oregon), Verone McKinley III (Oregon), Cameron Williams (Washington), Ryan Sanborn (Stanford) and Ben Lennon (Utah) for the preseason honor.
Fans will get their first chance to see the 2019 Sun Devils in action this Thursday when the team hosts Kent State at 7:00 p.m. PT at Sun Devil Stadium to open the season. The game will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network.
