TEMPE, Ariz. – Ten Sun Devil swimmers and one diver have put up 18 U.S. Olympic Trial qualifying marks with all looking to compete at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. The squad is highlight by rising senior Cierra Runge (200 free, 800 free and 1500 free) and rising junior Grant House (200 free, 100 fly and 200 IM) who have put up three qualifying times each.

Runge has also had Olympic experience before, as the Pennsylvania-native won gold as a part of the 800 free relay at Rio 2016. House also brings some international swimming experience as he looks to represent Team U.S.A in August in the 200 free at the Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.

Diver David Hoffer will look to qualify for Team U.S.A at the Olympic Diving Trials in Indianapolis next June. The qualification is the second such of Hoffer's career, as he finished third in the men's three-meter springboard at the Olympic Trials Final Qualification event in 2016.

The list also includes an incoming freshman in Lindsay Looney who qualified for Omaha in the 200 fly. Looney, a U.S.A Swimming Scholastic All-American and U.S.A. Junior National Team member, is set to come to Tempe for her first semester this August.

Three of the qualifiers were freshman in the 2018-19 season, proving the young talent that the Sun Devils showcase. Ruby Martin raced to a qualifying time in the 200 fly in Bloomington while Liam Bresette (400 free) and Cody Bybee (200 free and 100 fly). Bresette impressed during his freshman campaign, earning honorable mention All-American honors as a part of the ASU 800 free relay squad.

Evan Carlson (100 fly), Erica Laning (400 free and 800 free), Kendall Dawson (400 free and 800 free) and Emma Nordin (1500 free) round out the Sun Devils looking to take the block in Omaha so far, totaling 10 swimmers.

About U.S. Olympic Team Trials
A collaboration between the United States Olympic Committee and its National Governing Bodies, U.S. Olympic Team Trials are held in multiple sports prior to each edition of the Olympic Games and allow athletes to vie for the honor of representing Team USA. Often the last stop in an athlete's journey to the Olympics, the Trials also offer fans an up-close experience with America's sports heroes before they go on to compete on the world's biggest stage. Selection procedures for each sport are developed by the NGBs in concert with the USOC and follow parameters set forth by each International Federation.
