LAS VEGAS – The Sun Devil Baseball team had the bats going but couldn't throw strikes when it mattered most in a disappointing 10-9 loss at UNLV on Tuesday in Las Vegas.

Facing 30-35 mile per hours winds and gusts above 50 miles per hour, Spencer Torkelson homered in his third consecutive game as the Sun Devil offense recorded nine runs on nine hits. But the wheels came off in a disastrous ninth inning as the Sun Devil bullpen walked six batters and allowed six runs to score in the walk-off victory for UNLV.

Torkelson was 2-for-5 with two RBIs and Hunter Bishop and Myles Denson each added two-hit games as well. Drew Swift drove in two runs, including one on a nifty squeeze bunt in the eighth inning. Alika Williams made several impressive plays in the field with a season-high six defensive assists on the evening.

The Sun Devils will quickly look to put this loss behind them as the team prepares to face third-ranked Oregon State in a three-game Pac-12 series beginning Friday at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
