AUGUSTA, Ga. – The present and future of the Sun Devil Women's Golf program will be on display this week, as five current and incoming Sun Devils are scheduled to participate in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur, beginning Wednesday, April 3 and running through Saturday, April 6.
In the tournaments' first year of existence, the Augusta National Women's Amateur serves as an additional prestigious event hosted by Augusta National Golf Club the weekend prior to the Masters. Of the 72 top international female amateur golfers selected to this prestigious tournament, three Arizona State golfers and two members of the incoming freshman class received an invitation. Freshman Alessandra Fanali (Fiuggi, Italy), senior Sofia Anokhina (Moscow, Russia), and junior Olivia Mehaffey (Belfast, Northern Ireland) will represent the current members of the Sun Devil Women's Golf team competing in the event. Joining the trio will be a pair of future members of the program, the talented duo of Linn Grant (Viken, Sweden) and Amanda Linner (Onsala, Sweden), who will start school at ASU in fall 2019.
Golf Channel's Morning Drive and Golf Central will provide on-site reports beginning today during the Practice Round. On Wednesday, the Golf Channel will debut Golf Central Live From Augusta National Women's Amateur, which will provide live hourly updates throughout the day, including coverage of the first tee shot of the Augusta National Women's Amateur on Wednesday morning. Sun Devil Head Coach Missy Farr-Kaye will be interviewed live on the Morning Drive show on Wednesday at 8:40 a.m. EST. Golf Channel will continue to provide updates during the second round of competition throughout the day on Thursday, also covering a potential playoff round to cut the field down to 30. Golf Central Live From Augusta National Women's Amateur will air once again on Friday, when all 72 competitors take their practice round at Augusta National. Live final round coverage of the Augusta National Women's Amateur will be streamed via ANWAGolf.com, as well as GolfChannel.com, the NBC Sports app and Golf Channel app.
In addition to the coverage of the event, Journey to Augusta, a four-part digital series will be posted on the Augusta National Women's Amateur and GOLF Channel social handles - @ANWAGolf and @GolfChannel – with behind-the-scenes content from Arizona State's own Olivia Mehaffey along with two other fellow competitors.
Tickets to the inaugural tournament are sold out following an online ticket application process and no tickets will be available at the gates. For a full schedule of the television coverage of the event, visit this link. For more information, visit https://www.anwagolf.com/en_US/index.html
