TUCSON, Ariz. – The No. 17 Sun Devil Women's Golf team tied their team low score of the spring in round one of the Wildcat Invitational and were tied for the lead after the first 18 holes.
"We played so well this morning but had our struggles this afternoon," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "Alessandra is playing beautifully and is in a great position, in second place after two rounds. I believe this team will rebound tomorrow and come back fighting like the tough Sun Devils I believe they are."
Through two rounds of the tournament, the Sun Devils are currently in fifth, just six strokes out of the lead in a tight leaderboard.
Individually, Alessandra Fanali was in the top spot after the first round and is currently the leading Sun Devil in second place through 36 holes. She shot a career-low 67 in round one, seven strokes under her previous career low in her short career as a Sun Devil.
Madison Kerley, playing as an individual, is tied for fifth, shooting a 70 in round one, just one stroke more than her season-low.
Olivia Mehaffey is in a tie for 24th while Raquel Olmos is T31, Sofia Anokhina T40, and Alexandra Forsterling T48.
Tuesday's final round will also be a shotgun start at 8 am PT and the Sun Devils will be paired with Denver, San Diego State, and Oregon State, teeing off on holes 5A, 5B, 6, 7, and 8.
