HONOLULU, Hawai'i – The No. 5 Sun Devil Water Polo team tied it up at seven early in the fourth quarter but trailed most of the match, ultimately falling, 10-7, to the home team, No. 7 Hawai'i.
 
Newcomer Lieke Rogge and sister Bente Rogge led the way with two goals apiece for the Sun Devils, including Lieke's equalizing goal with 6:37 remaining in the fourth quarter and Bente's opening goal for ASU at the :29 mark of the first quarter.
 
Maud Koopman also added a goal, tying the game at two apiece with 5:58 remaining until halftime while Julia Reyes and Amira Van Buren also put their names on the scoresheet for the Devils.
 
The Sun Devils pulled within one six different times and tied the match twice but were unable to overcome the deficit.
 
Goalie Bridget Johnston made three saves while playing all four quarters for Arizona State.
 
Arizona State (1-1) returns to the mainland to host the second-annual Cross-Conference Challenge next weekend, a 15-game tournament hosting six teams including UCSB, Princeton, Iona, Cal State Monterey Bay, Cal Baptist, and Azusa Pacific from Feb. 1-3.
