OKLAHOMA CITY - Sophomore pitcher Giselle "G" Juarez earned yet another award to her record-setting 2018 season, this time notching First-Team All-America honors from the NFCA.

The NFCA Division I All-America softball teams are selected from the pool of players who earned first team All-Region recognition by Division I head coaches representing the NCAA regions.

Juarez joins a long list of First-Team All-Americans, with the last being Amber Freeman in 2015. The last Sun Devil pitcher to be named an All-American was Dallas Escobedo in 2014. With her first team nod today, Juarez becomes the 25th First-Team honoree in ASU softball history.

The Pac-12 conference is well-represented on the list, as Juarez one of seven representatives to earn a First-Team selection. The seven athletes are the most from a single conference on the First-Team as well.

Juarez enters the Women's College World Series this weekend ranked at or near the top in numerous statistical categories. Her impressive 0.91 ERA checks in as the second lowest in Pac-12, and fifth-best in the country, while her 297 strikeouts lead the prolific Pac-12 this season and eighth in the country. On the year, Juarez has recorded the nation's fourth most shutouts with 13, leading to 26 wins, a mark that ranks third in the conference.

Juarez and the sixth-ranked Arizona State softball team looks to close out the 2017-18 softball season with its third national championship in program history. The Sun Devils open the Women's College World Series on Thursday against No. 1 seed Oregon with first pitch set for 9 a.m. PT.
