TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Swimming announced their Class of 2019 group, which includes three swimmers ranked in the top-30 in their class. Check out their bios below.
Jarod Arroyo – IM – Tempe, Ariz. – ASU Prepatory Academy
Arizona Rank: 1st
2019 Rank: 65th
Arroyo was a three-time Central American medalist (gold, silver, bronze) and won a bronze medal in the 400 IM at the 2017 Summer Junior Championships. He also represented Puerto Rico at both the FINA Short Course World Championships and the FINA World Junior Championships this past August.
A valley native, Arroyo went to ASU Prep in Phoenix and swam for Pitchfork Aquatics, which shares a home with Sun Devil Swim/Dive at the Mona Plummer Aquatic Center. He also placed top-five in the TYR Pro Swim Series at Mesa over the summer, racing to a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM.
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "I would have to stay I'm most excited to just be a part of the team. The culture of this team is one of the main reasons why I chose to go here, so to finally be a part of it is super exciting."
On why he chose ASU: "Overall, ASU was by far my favorite school. Even though I didn't take any of my other recruiting trips, I didn't have t because of how well I fit in with the team. Besides this the facilities and the coaching staff are amazing. I can't wait to be a Sun Devil!"
Alex Colson – FL/IM – Silver Spring, Md. – Wheaton HS
Maryland Rank: 4th

A four-year letterman at Wheaton High School, Colson was a two-time Maryland 4A State Champion in the 200 free and 100 fly. Colson also holds the Maryland State record in the 200 fly at 49.08. The Maryland native swims for the Rockville Montgomery Swim Club and in the MCSL Summer League with the Northwest Branch Dolphins.
Colson is a member of the National Honor Society and is also a Advanced Placement (AP) Distinguished Scholar.
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "Since I am from Maryland, I am looking forward to swimming outside in the winter."
On why he chose ASU: "ASU offered a great combination of excellence in both athletics and in academics. On the athletic side, I am excited to have the opportunity swim for Coach Bowman and to be a part of a PAC 12 team. On the academic side, I am excited about studying electrical engineering at the Fulton School of Engineering, particularly because it offers courses in semiconductor processing/intelligent control, nanoelectronics, and computational electronics."
Jack Dolan – FR/BK/FL – Wildwood, Mo. – Eureka HS
Missouri Rank: 1st
2019 Rank: 7th
One of the top-ranked recuits in his graduating class, Dolan qualified for the Olympic Trials in the 100 back as a 15-year-old. His current personal bests in the 50 and 100 freestyle rank in the fastest among current Sun Devils, and Dolan is expected to make an immediate impact on the squad.
Dolan qualified for the Winter Juniors West this past year where he won the 100 and 200 free while putting up new personal bests in the 50 and 200 free and the 100 back. He has also competed at Columbia Sectionals and NSCA Spring Championships.
On what he's looking forward to most next year: "Being able to live with teammates."
On why he chose ASU: "Everything about ASU was perfect for me. There's a world-class coaching staff, outstanding facilities, and the team is like a family."
Jadé Foelske – FL/IM – Brookhaven, Ga. – Chamblee Charter HS
Georgia Rank: 2nd
2019 Rank: 70th
After living in Europe for over 10 years, Foelske racked up an international swimming resume that included representing Germany in the European Youth Olympic Games and the Junior European Championships. Over in the states, the Georgia-native earned four varsity letters as a member of the swim team at Chamblee Charter, including one year of being team captain.
She brings four Georgia State Championships to Tempe, including three top times in the 100 fly and one in the 200 IM at the state meet. Foelske was also a runner up in the 200 IM during her freshman and sophomore year and won the 100 FL and 200 IM at the Dekalb County meet during her freshman, sophomore and junior years. On top of her accolades, Foelske also earned the Athlete of the Year and Excelled Award in 2015-2016 and the Dekalb County Athletic Excellence Award in 2017-2018.
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I'm really excited to be part of an amazing team and travel across the country with them, as well as getting to enjoy a beautiful campus dotted with palm trees and not having to worry about the Georgia humidity."
On why she chose ASU: "I chose ASU because I wanted to be part of a growing program with an incredible swim team and I've always wanted to live on the West Coast."
Julian Hill – FR/IM – Gainesville, Fla. – F. W. Buchholz HS
Florida Rank: 1st
2019 Rank: 22nd
Hill looks to bring his three Florida state titles (200FR in 2017, 200FR and 500FR in 2018) to Tempe as a part of the Class of 2023. The Gainesville native was a three-time First Team All-Area selection and was also a member of the state runner-up relay teams in 2017 (200 medley) and 2018 (200 medley, 400 free).
On the national level, Hill competed in the top competitions in the country in middle distance events, including placing first in the 200FR and third in the 400FR at the USA Swimming Futures Championships in August. Hill notched four podium finishes in the Florida Swimming Senior Championships, taking second in the 500FR and 100FR and third in the 200FR and 100BR in February.
Riley Lexvold – BK/IM – Irvine, Calif. – Laurel Springs School
California Rank: 9th
2019 Rank: 66th
A highly talented swimmer out of Ojai, Lexvold placed second in the 100 back and sixth in the 200 IM as a freshman at the CIF Southern Section Division I championships and has only gotten better. The California native was a two-time All-American her freshman year and was also voted Rookie of the Year. Lexvold also qualified for the Olympic Trials in 2016, and was one of just 20 swimmers under the age of 15 to compete at the event. Her lifetime best of 1:56.26 in the 200 back puts her in the top 5% of fastest times among NCAA Division 1 swimmers as well.
Lexhold excelled in the classroom too, earning Excellence in Foreign Language and Social Studies awards.
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I am most looking forward to becoming a part of the ASU swim team. The environment they have is unrivaled and everyone is there to get better and push each other. I cannot wait to be with my new teammates, working alongside them to be the best we can be."
On why she chose ASU: "I chose ASU because of the culture they are building. When I visited the school, I felt at home and automatically felt like I was a part of the family. They are all ambitious, hard workers, who are willing do everything it takes to reach their goals and I am beyond excited to be a part of that. I also loved the athlete support ASU provides. They ensure you are keeping your grades up and provide easy to access accommodation when needed."
Lindsay Looney – FL/IM – Denison, Texas – Dension HS

With a lot of international experience already under her belt, Looney comes to Tempe with an already impressive resume. The Texan was a member of the USA Swimming National Junior team for two-straight years, racing to a first-place finish in the 400 IM in 2017. Looney was also a Junior Pan Pacific Team member in 2018 and an 18U International team member. At the age of 13, Looney qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials in the 200FL.
At the high school level, Looney is a five-time UIL Texas State Champion and was 5A-6A Texas Girls Coaches Association Girls' Athlete of the year in 2017-18. A two-time USA Swimming Scholastic All-American, Looney broke the 5A UIL State record in the 100FL.
Looney excelled in the classroom as well, as she was a National Honor Society member, senior class treasurer and ranked in the top 6% of her class at Denison High School.
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "Continuing my swim and academic career around a team of outstanding student-athletes and coaches that want to get better every day."
On why she chose ASU: "Stepping onto the pool deck and touring the campus of ASU, I felt like I was home. The facilities are incredible and the staff and team feel like family."
Katrina Marty – BK – Madison, Wisc. – West HS
Wisconsin Rank: 2nd
2019 Rank: 48th
Marty was a three-time All-Conference selection, and also raced to an All-State selection in the 100 fly (2015-18), 100 back (2016-18) and she was also an All-American in the 2016-17 school year. The Madison native set her high school record in the 100 fly and 100 back, while setting the Wisconsin state record in the 100 IM.
During her junior year at West High School, Marty was a state champion in the 100 fly and 100 back, including setting a new lifetime best in the 100 back.
Marty excelled in the classroom as well, as she was a member of her school's National Honor Society.
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "The thing I am looking forward to the most next year is a whole new place with whole new people. Don't get me wrong, I love Madison and I love the people here, but I want to experience something different in a different atmosphere for the next four years. I'm so excited to be training with people who are so dedicated and with coaches whose goal is to make me the best athlete and person I can be."
On why she chose ASU: "ASU has always been my dream school. The fact that I'm actually going there just amazes me every day. The swim team and coaching staff is fantastic, the culture is amazing, and it has the best programs for my major. It was just a perfect fit."
Claire Nguyen – FR – Leesburg, Va. – Riverside HS

Nguyen is a two-time Virginia state champion and All-American in the 200 free, taking home the title in 2016 and again in 2018. The Virginia native also set the VHSL 4A Regional in the 100 free and 200 IM in 2018 and in the 200 and 500 free in 2017.
For her efforts, Nguyen was voted All-Loco First-Team in 2016, 2017 and 2018, All-Loco Swimmer of the Year in 2017 and 2018 and was All-Met First-Team in 2017. Nguyen is also the Vice President of the French National Honor Society and earned Academic letters for three straight years (2016-18), embodying success in the pool and in the classroom.
On what she's looking forward to most next year: "I am looking forward to being part of an incredible swimming and academic program to make my future goals possible."
On why she chose ASU: "I chose to commit to ASU because of the accomplished coaching staff and amazing team environment that I feel will best help me to improve and reach my personal goals in swimming."
