TEMPE, Ariz. – Joining the eight-time NCAA Championship Sun Devils next fall will be two ranked in the top-40 amateur rankings. Linn Grant (Viken, Sweden) and Amanda Linner (Onsala, Sweden) have each signed a National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play golf for the Sun Devils and attend ASU starting in the fall of 2019.
Both natives of Sweden, Linn Grant is the No. 26 ranked amateur in the world while Amanda Linner is the No. 40 ranked amateur in the world. Linner reclassified and finished school early in order to sign her NLI with the class of 2019.
"We are thrilled to announce the signing of Linn Grant and Amanda Linner," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "These two young ladies from Sweden are phenomenal golfers and terrific student-athletes. Linn and Amanda will be great additions to our Sun Devil Women's Golf team and Sun Devil family."
Grant represented Sweden in the European Girls Team Championships as Sweden won in 2017 and finished runner-up in 2016. She was part of the third-place team at the World Junior Girls Team Championships in Canada in 2017. Also in 2017, she won the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Championship, the German Girls Championships, the Ladies British Amateur Stroke Play Championships, and was part of the European Junior Solheim Cup Team.
"They each have a breadth of international experience that will benefit our team greatly, representing Sweden's National Junior Team and Ladies Team for the past several years," said Farr-Kaye. "I look forward to representing Linn and Amanda on campus next August."
Recently, Linner competed at the Youth Olympic Games (October) in Argentina, Junior Ryder Cup (September) in France, Girls' British Open Amateur Championship (August) in Ireland, European Ladies' Team Championship (July) in Austria, and Ladies' British Open Amateur Championship (June) in England.
Linner finished eighth at the Helen Holm Scottish Women's Open Championship (April) in Scotland, 13th at the Annika Invitational Europe (June) in Sweden, and 20th at the AJGA's Thunderbird International Junior Championship (May) at Grayhawk in Scottsdale, Ariz.
