BOULDER, Colo. – Late rallies fell short as Arizona State women's volleyball lost in three to Colorado in the CU Events Center on Friday night.

Arizona State (13-14, 4-11 Pac-12) was out-blocked by Colorado (15-11, 7-8 Pac-12) in the match with the home team collecting 10 to ASU's two. The Buffaloes sweep the season series against the Sun Devils after taking the first match in Tempe, Ariz., 3-1.

Shelbie Dobmeier saw action for the first time since Sept. 23, in the win at Cal. She had 21 assists, six digs and one ace in tonight's match. Alyse Ford led the team in kills with 15, her third-straight match with double-digit kills. The .407 clip she hit tonight was her second-best hitting percentage behind her .409 hit in the season opener. Courtney Leffel's streak of consecutive matches with double-digit digs ended at 11 after she notched just six tonight.

In the first set, the Sun Devils hung with the Buffaloes, partially due to the hitting errors from the home team that made up five of the first seven points for ASU. Carmen Unzue slammed the ball straight down to get within two, down 11-9. Colorado put together small runs to get up 19-15, forcing ASU to use its second timeout. Kills from Megan Beedie and Ivana Jeremic fought off two set points, but Colorado finished the set, 25-21.

ASU got up early in the second, but a 4-1 run from Colorado took the lead, 7-6. Four in a row for the Sun Devils put them up 11-8, capped off by an overpass kill from Beedie. However, the Buffaloes battled back in it, tying it at 13-13. Arizona State gave up four-straight points to Colorado, forcing the visitors to call a timeout, down 17-14. The Sun Devils put together three points in a row to make it a 20-18 deficit, but the Buffaloes closed out the set on a 5-1 run, taking it 25-19.

To start the third, Colorado jumped out to a 6-2 lead. However, Arizona State dug themselves back in it. The Sun Devils went on a 5-0 run to tie it at 11-11, but the Buffaloes took the lead back and took it to 17-14. An ace from Claire Kovensky cut the deficit to two and a block from Ford and Unzue got ASU within one, down 21-20. However, Colorado finished strong, winning 25-22 and earning the sweep. The Sun Devils have now lost nine in a row.

Arizona State will travel to Salt Lake City to play Utah on Sunday at 1 p.m. MST.
