TEMPE, Ariz. – Head coach Jay Santos and the Arizona State gymnastics team has announced the 2019 schedule, which features five meets in Wells Fargo Arena.
"I'm really excited about our schedule this year," Santos said. "We will be competing against many of the best teams in the country, both out of conference and Pac-12 opponents. We will have some great meets at home for our fans."
The Sun Devils are not shying away from a challenge in 2019. They will compete against six teams that advanced to the 2018 NCAA National Championships: UCLA, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Washington and Nebraska. Additionally, six additional opponents competed in NCAA regionals: Stanford, George Washington, Penn State, Pitt, WVU and BYU.
Before the season, fans can check out the 2019 squad at the Maroon and Gold meet on December 15 at 4 p.m. MT at Wells Fargo Arena.
The 2019 season will open will a quad-meet at home on January 4 with Minnesota, Missouri and UIC. Following the home opener, the Gym Devils will be on the road for two-straight meets, first at TWU and then at reigning NCAA champion UCLA. Arizona State will wrap up Janu at home on the 26th against conference foe Utah.
The Sun Devils have three meets in February, starting at Cal before hosting Stanford on the 10th. ASU will participate in the Perfect 10 Challenge in Oklahoma City, a quad-meet featuring Oklahoma, Washington and George Washington. Finally, the Gym Devils will be back in Tempe on February 22 to host Oregon State.
March begins with two-straight tri-meets on the road, the first at Penn State and the second in Denver. The home finale will be on March 13, another tri-meet, this time with West Virginia and BYU.
The 2019 Pac-12 Gymnastics Championships will be on March 23 in Salt Lake City, Utah at the Maverik Center, the first neutral site for this competition in Pac-12 history.
Three of the meets will be broadcast by the Pac-12 Network: at UCLA, home against Utah and at Stanford. The Pac-12 championships will also be on the Pac-12 Network.
