LARAMIE, Wyo. – On day one of the UNIWYO Invite, Sun Devil volleyball won their match against Murray State 3-1 (25-15, 25-15, 22-25, 25-21) and then dropped their evening match with Wyoming 3-1 (25-20, 25-16, 20-25, 25-22).

ASU 3, Murray State 1
Alyse Ford, Claire Kovensky and Ivana Jeremic led the Sun Devils attack against the Racers, with all three notching 10 kills each in the matchup. Shelbie Dobmeier also shined in her 2018 debut, recording 38 assists and eight digs against Murray State.

"Alyse hasn't practiced with us from the beginning, and I think it was a little bit evident in her first couple matches," coach Sanja Tomasevic said. "She's still not where she can be, and I'm really looking forward to the next couple weeks where she can really connect with our setters and offense."

ASU played from behind early on in the first match before knotting the score at eight apiece and then taking off from there. Four straight attack errors by the Racers sealed the first set victory for the Sun Devils, and Jeremic opened set two with a kill to swing the momentum in ASU's direction. The Sun Devils played smart again to end set two, letting the Racers commit two services errors to give ASU set two as well.

Murray State was down but not out, taking the third set by a close 25-22, but ASU came out swinging in the fourth set to pull out to an early 8-2 lead. The Sun Devils scored six-straight points to seal the victory and record their sixth win of the season in seven games.

Wyoming 3, ASU 1
Falling behind 11-5 in the first set, coach Sanja Tomasevic used a time out to allow her team to regroup and refocus. ASU went on a 15-9 run afterward, but Wyoming proved to be too much in that first set, taking it by a final of 25-20.

"We played in front of a packed gym, and they already beat one Pac-12 team so far in Colorado and they wanted to beat another so they played with purpose," Tomasevic said. "Hats off to them because they played a really good match that taught us a few lessons heading into the gym and the film room to get better from here."

After dropping the second match, 25-16, the Sun Devils rebounded in convincing fashion, 25-20, and appeared poised to gain control of the match. Despite trading punches with the Cowgirls for the better part of the match's final frame, Wyoming garnered the fourth set, 25-22, to earn the win.

Jeremic once again anchored the attack for the Maroon and Gold, recording a career-high 26 kills while hitting at a clip of .333 (26/7/57). The Serbian, who was named to the All-Tournament teams of both the Sun Devil Classic and Puerto Rico Clásico, also added six digs and two blocks.

"Iva is a gym rat, she loves volleyball and she had a really amazing game against Wyoming," Tomasevic said. "She's been working on pushing through, becoming a leader and being that person we can count on on the court at all times."

Ford also hit the double-digit kills mark for the fifth-straight game, securing the feat in every game she has appeared in this season for ASU. The transfer has proven to be crucial for the Sun Devil offense, as her 12 kills tonight tie her career-high she set against Mizzou five days ago.
