TEMPE, Ariz. - Head coach Greg Powers announced Monday junior forward Tyler Busch will join Brinson Pasichnuk with a 'C' on his chest as co-captain for the 2018-19 season, while fellow forwards Dominic Garcia and Anthony Croston will be the alternates.
"It is no surprise these four men will be leading our program this season," said head coach Greg Powers. "All were recruited due to the leadership they demonstrated for previous teams, and all have displayed those same qualities here."
Back in July, Powers announced the promotion of Pasichnuk to captain with more to come prior to the season. The junior defenseman wore an 'A' for the back half of the 2017-18 season.
Before attending ASU, Busch wore the 'C' for the Spruce Grove Saints in the AJHL. When Busch signed his NLI in 2016, Powers called him "the ultimate team guy" and the "ultimate captain".
Busch had three multi-point games last season through 29 games played. He scored seven goals and had eight assists last season for a total of 16 goals and 19 assists in his two collegiate seasons.
This will be Croston's third season sporting the 'A' on his chest after earning it early on during his sophomore campaign.
Similar to Croston, Garcia earns the 'A' entering his second season and will be the youngest leader wearing a letter on his jersey.
"Dom wore the 'C' for his team in Aston and is the ultimate leader and culture builder," said Powers back when Garcia signed his NLI. "The energy he plays with and brings to the room every day is contagious and he will have a major impact on helping us build our program."
In year one, Garcia played in 33 of the Sun Devils' 34 games while serving significant time on the penalty kill.
See all four and the rest of the Sun Devils as they begin their 2018-2019 season on Saturday, Oct. 6 at 7:05 p.m. MST against Alaska Fairbanks at Oceanside Ice Arena in Tempe.
