TEMPE, Ariz. – Sun Devil Hockey head coach Greg Powers announced junior defenseman Brinson Pasichnuk as the team's new captain for the 2018-19 season and beyond.
"I couldn't be more proud to announce a new era of leadership in Sun Devil Hockey," said Powers. "Our leaders have done a tremendous job getting us to where we are, but Brinson has earned this opportunity and we believe he can lead us to new levels of success."
His leadership was demonstrated on and off the ice in 2017-18, as Brinson paced the team with 26 points as a defenseman -- nearly doubling his production from his freshman campaign in 2015-16.
Over the last three offseasons, Brinson has attended NHL Development Camps, including the Minnesota Wild in 2016, the Montreal Canadiens in 2017 and the Arizona Coyotes in 2018.
The men's hockey program maintains the second-best team GPA among all men's sports, and Brinson contributed with a 3.20 cumulative GPA following the spring semester with a focus in communications.
Brinson becomes the third Sun Devil to wear the 'C' during the program's four-year tenure.
Alternate captains will be decided prior to the season opener on Oct. 6 against Alaska-Anchorage at Oceanside Ice Arena.
