TEMPE – All-Americans a season ago, Lauryn John-Baptiste and Ilze Hattingh led the way for the Sun Devil women's tennis team in the first fall ITA/Oracle Rankings released Tuesday that included three ranked doubles tandems and three individuals in the top-125.
The Elite Eight tandem slots in at No. 8 in the doubles poll, their highest ranking as a team and the second-highest ranked Pac-12 team behind a pairing from Stanford at No. 3.
True freshman Cali Jankowski finds herself ranked before even playing a match as she comes in with Savannah Slaysman at No. 50.
Tereza Kolarova and Sasa Klanecek didn't play together last year but enter the fall season as the 56th ranked doubles pairing in the NCAA.
On the singles side of things, ASU's No. 1 from a season ago still remains the highest ranked individual on the squad as John-Baptiste earned the 46th spot on the 125-woman list. Slaysman and Hattingh both checked in as well with the hometown junior coming in at 118 and the South African sophomore taking 121.
The Sun Devils get their fall season started later this month and will host the Thunderbird Classic at the Whiteman Tennis Center in November.
