TEMPE – The Sun Devil women's tennis team received All-Academic team honors, and seven women earned Scholar-Athlete status from the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, the organization announced Tuesday.

Arizona State's seven honorees led the Pac-12 with Stanford coming in second with five. Of the seven, four of them played in every match during the spring and Sasa Klanecek missed just two during the regular season.

The list also included first-team All-Americans Ilze Hattingh and Lauryn John-Baptiste who made a run to the quarterfinal round at the NCAA Doubles Championships and finished the season ranked in the top-15.

Sammi Hampton and former Sun Devil Kelley Anderson sat out last spring due to injury, but still received an All-Academic nod for their excellence in the classroom.

Savannah Slaysman made the list as a sophomore and doubles partner Tereza Kolarova put herself on the list in her first collegiate season.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners were factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2017 and spring 2018).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least 2 semesters (including freshman through senior year).
