NORFOLK, Va. – Just one week after earning the recognition as a team, 17 Sun Devil individual swimmers and divers were named Scholar All-Americans by the College Swimming & Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA).
CSCAA selected a record 1,069 swimmers and divers for its Scholar All-America team for the Spring 2018 semester. The award recognizes students that have achieved a grade point average of 3.50 or higher and competed at their respective NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships.
The selections, drawn from 181 colleges and universities across all Divisions, include NCAA All-Americans Patrick Park, Zach Poti, Grant House, Evan Carlson, Dylan Boyd, Silja Kansakoski, Frida Kaellgren and Mara Aiacoboae, demonstrating the balance between academics and athletics the pool Devils display.
Rounding out the selections were Sarah Bathe, Camryn Curry, Kendall Dawson, Emma Nordin, Fanny Teijonsalo, Cameron Smith, Heikki Makikallio, Youssef Selim and Jack Dalmolin.
Of the 17 honorees, nine were freshman. This honor marks the second such for three Sun Devils in Dawson, Kansakoski and Selim, and the fourth-straight for Makikallio. The diver notched a Scholar All-American every year as a Sun Devil, graduating with his degree in Finance last month.
The Sun Devils recently announced their 2018-19 competition schedule, opening the season with their annual Intrasquad meet on Sept. 28. Fans will have four chances to catch the Pool Devils at home, and can view the full men's and women's schedules.
