STILLWATER, Okla. – No. 10 Arizona State women's golf ended the day on a high note as three Sun Devils birdied the final hole of their first round at the 2018 NCAA Women's Golf Championships.
Senior Sophia Zeeb had ASU's best round of the day (+3), shooting at or below par in 13 of 18 holes on the day. Sophomore Olivia Mehaffey (+5) had the second-best score for the Sun Devils, starting and ending on a high note with a birdie on one and 18.
Mehaffey and freshman Raquel Olmos, in her first NCAA Championships appearance, also shot at or below par on 13 of 18, including eight of the back nine for Olmos.
"It was a tough day for us, but this team is tough and resilient," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We learned a great deal about this golf course today and there is a lot of golf left to play."
The Sun Devils (currently 22nd) have a tight turnaround between the first and second rounds, teeing off on hole 10 on Saturday between 8:36-9:20 am CT (6:36-7:20 am PT). ASU will once again be paired with Florida and Northwestern before the pairing groups are determined by score starting on Sunday.
Madison Kerley (8:36 am) tees off first followed by Olmos (8:47 am), Roberta Liti (8:58 am), Olivia Mehaffey (9:09 am), and Sophia Zeeb (9:20 am).
