MALIBU, Calif. – The Sun Devil offense exploded for 16 hits en route to a 10-7 victory on the road at Pepperdine on Tuesday afternoon in Malibu, Calif.

Trevor Hauver had his best game as a Sun Devil, going 3-for-3 with two doubles and two walks as he reached in all five of his plate appearances and scored two runs. Gage Canning notched his 20th career triple and Spencer Torkelson knocked his eighth home run of the season.

Six Sun Devils had multiple hits in the effort and eight of nine starters had at least one hit. Carter Aldrete was 3-for-5 with three RBIs and Hunter Bishop added three RBIs in the contest as well. For Aldrete, it was his third multi-hit game in the last four games after going 1-for-20 in six previous games prior to his current streak.

The Sun Devil pitching staff closed things out with five scoreless innings of action after Pepperdine tied things at 7-7 in the fourth inning. Chaz Montoya got the save, his third of the season.

The Sun Devil offense got things going in the bottom of the fifth, plating five runs behind a pair of bases-loaded singles from Carter Aldrete and Hunter Bishop in addition to a bases-loaded walk from Drew Swift.

Pepperdine posted a five-run fifth inning of their own to even things up at 7-7 but the Devils quickly responded in the top of the sixth with doubles from Trevor Hauver and Hunter Bishop and a Canning RBI single to go back up, 9-7.

Torkelson's solo shot to lead off the eighth inning made it 10-7 and was his eighth of the season. He trails Barry Bonds' ASU freshman record of 11 home runs by just three only 13 games into the season.

It was the freshman's fifth multi-RBI game of the season. He has reached base in six straight games and has a hit in five straight.

ASU got on the board first as Canning led the game off with his NCAA-leading sixth triple of the season and the 20th of his career, coming home on a Torkelson groundout two batters later. Canning's triple moved him into a tie for fifth in ASU history and he became the first Sun Devil to reach 20 triples in a career since Willie Bloomquist from 1997-99.

Canning finished the day 2-for-6, his ninth multi-hit game of the season. Lyle Lin also added two hits for his ninth multi-hit game of the year as well. The two each have a hit in every game this season.

The Sun Devils return home this weekend for a three-game series against UNC-Wilmington beginning Friday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. AZT at Phoenix Municipal Stadium.
