MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – No 13 Arizona State gymnastics (6-5, 3-3 Pac-12) recorded its 27th-best team total in program history, but narrowly fell to No. 25 Minnesota, 196.675-196.525, Saturday night at Maturi Pavilion.

"I'm happy with how the team performed today." said Gym Devil head coach Jay Santos. "This was our season high on the road and I think they looked pretty confident overall all night and I feel they handled being back on the road really well." I feel the difference in the meet came down to landings and details. We just needed to clean it up a little more and it needs to be a big focus as we get close to post season."

By virtue of the effort, the Gym Devils have surpassed the 196+ mark six times on the season, marking the first time the program has done so since 2006.

Opening the outing on bars, the Gym Devils recorded a team cumulative 49.250, to eclipse the 49+ mark in the event for the sixth time this season. Pacing the squad, sophomore Ashley Szafranski recorded a career-best tally of 9.900. Gym Devil standouts Cairo Leonard-Baker and Anne Kuhm followed close behind posting a pair of 9.875s. Rounding out the effort, junior Morgan Wilson tied her season-best 9.825, while Kaitlyn Szafranski recorded a career-best 9.775.

Earning her second 9.8+ on the event this season, Ginn paced the Maroon and Gold in the rotation with a career-best score of 9.825. Following close behind, Leonard-Baker notched a 9.800. A trio of Gym Devils including K. Szafranksi, Kuhm and Wilson contributed 9.775s to cap the rotation for the Maroon and Gold.

Surpassing the 49+ mark on floor for their seventh time this season, the Gym Devils pieced together an impressive 49.250 team effort, spearheaded by a pair of 9.875s from K. Szafranski and Kuhm. For Szafranski, the score marked a career-best for the Orefield, PA native. Making her debut for the 2018 season, Junior Corinne Belkoff provided a crucial spark in the lineup, posting an impressive tally of 9.850. Joining Belkoff in the mark, Ginn recorded a 9.850 to match her career-high in the event. Rounding out the lineup, Junior Justine Callis recorded a season-best 9.800.

Closing out the meet on beam, Arizona State posted a 49.075, led by Callis who recorded a 9.850. Leonard-Baker, Wilson and A. Szafranski each recorded a tally of 9.825 to help solidify the effort.

Up next, the Gym Devils will remain on the road, slated to travel to the Midwest for a quad meet with top-ranked Oklahoma, No. 10 Arkansas and No. 12 Denver on Fri., March 9.
