TEMPE, Ariz. - Despite an impressive performance by sophomore goalkeeper Berkeley Bonneau, the Arizona State lacrosse team (5-4, 0-3 Pac-12) fell to the No. 15 Colorado Buffaloes (6-3, 3-1 Pac-12), 18-2, Sunday afternoon at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium.
"This was another tough game against a ranked Pac-12 opponent who is super talented," said head coach Courtney Martinez Connor. "I think our girls battled the entire game. It was certainly exhausting for our defense who played a majority of this game but I'm still incredibly proud of their efforts"
Bonneau led the Sun Devil defense with a career high and program record 17 saves, surpassing her previous career high of 12, set Friday against Oregon, in the first half alone.
The two Sun Devil goals came in the second half, with junior co-captain Kerri Clayton scoring less than a minute in and freshman attacker Kate Dougherty scoring off an assist from Avery Hamill with just over six minutes remaining in the game.
For the Buffaloes, junior midfielder Miranda Stinson led the way with four goals, followed by Carly Cox and Sadie Grozier with three each.
As a team, the Sun Devils had 14 ground balls and seven caused turnovers. Sophomore Madison Woodall led the Sun Devils at the draw, recording a career high four.
Up next the Sun Devils complete their three-game home stand as they take on Liberty in a midweek non-conference matchup on Tuesday, March 20 at 5 p.m. at Sun Devil Soccer/Lacrosse Stadium. Admission is free for all fans and the game will be broadcasted live via Pac-12+. Fans can follow along with Sun Devil Lacrosse's inaugural season by following the team on social media @SunDevilWLax.
