MESA, Ariz. – Following one round of play at the 2018 Clover Cup, No. 8 Sun Devil women's golf is just one stroke out of the lead, in a close second place behind Ohio State.
"We had a solid day today. Very good scores posted from Sophia and Raquel and Olivia's birdie on the last hole helped close the gap with Ohio State," said head coach Missy Farr-Kaye. "We did a lot of things well today and I believe our scores will start to reflect that more tomorrow."
Three Sun Devils are also in the top-10 following the first 18 holes led by senior Sophia Zeeb (T3) and freshman Raquel Olmos (T6), shooting a 70 and 71, respectively. The round tied Zeeb's season low and Olmos' career low. Recently named ANNIKA Watch List and Palmer Cup team member Mehaffey is in a tie for 9th place.
Madison Kerley is also in the top-25, in a tie for 21st while Roberta Liti is just outside the top-25 in a tie for 29th.
The Sun Devils will tee off on Saturday, Mar. 17 between 9:40 am and 10:20 am AZ time, each starting 10 minutes apart, starting with Olmos, followed by Kerley, Zeeb, Liti, and capped by Mehaffey.
