SEATTLE – Kianna Ibis scored a game-high 13 points, Sophia Elenga had 11 and Charnea Johnson-Chapman added 10 to help lead the Arizona State women's basketball team to a 76-47 win over Arizona in the first round of the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday.
Kiara Russell came through with an outstanding performance as she tied a career high with nine points to go with a career-high nine assists with zero turnovers. For the Sun Devils, the win was their 20th of the season (20-11), giving them 20 or more wins for the fifth straight season which ties the school record for consecutive 20-win seasons.

The Sun Devils shot a season-high 56.9 percent and ended with a 33-19 advantage on the boards. ASU's 11 offensive rebounds helped it score 16 second-chance points.

The offensive performances of Ibis, Elenga and Johnson-Chapman helped the Sun Devils score nearly twice as many points in the paint as Arizona (48-22).

Reili Richardson (nine points, four assists) and Robbi Ryan (eight points, four assists) came just short of scoring in double figures while combining for eight assists.

The Sun Devils came out and dominated in the first quarter, holding the Wildcats to only two points, the fewest points given up in a quarter by the Sun Devils this season. Five different Sun Devils scored in the quarter led by Courtney Ekmark who had five points (2-4 FGs). Ekmark, who led ASU with seven rebounds, would finish with six points.

The Wildcats would edge the Sun Devils 18-17 in the second quarter to get within 14 points at the half, 34-20.

The Sun Devils would quickly quash any hopes Arizona had of making a comeback after a 12-2 run to start the third quarter. Ryan had a run of six straight points during the scoring burst.

Sam Thomas, who tied for the team lead with 11 points, hit a 3-pointer to cut ASU's lead to 18 early in the fourth quarter. The Wildcats would get no closer as the Sun Devils would go on to outscore them 19-11 in the fourth quarter to secure the win.

ASU's win sets up a date with No. 10 Oregon State in the quarterfinal round on Friday (8:30 p.m. PT/9:30 p.m. MT). The Sun Devils will be looking to snap a seven-game losing streak to the Beavers (23-6, 14-4 Pac-12), who defeated ASU 57-54 in Corvallis on Jan. 12 and 64-60 in last Sunday's regular season finale in Tempe. ASU led for more than 26 minutes in the first meeting and was up by as many as 13 in Sunday's loss.
