No. 6 @SunDevilWGolf to Begin Spring Season vs. DenverNo. 6 @SunDevilWGolf to Begin Spring Season vs. Denver
TEMPE, Ariz. – The reigning national champion Sun Devil women's golf team opens the spring season with a dual match vs. the University of Denver on Sunday, Jan. 28 at 9:30 am MT at Superstition Mountain.

On Sunday, the Sun Devils and Pioneers will be playing Superstition Mountain's 7,225-yard, par-72 Prospector Course.

The course is one of four total at the club and one of two designed by the golf-great turned course designer Jack Nicklaus, along with his son Gary. The course opened in 1998 and has been site to the 2002 Countrywide Tradition tournament as well as the LPGA Safeway International (2004-08).

The Prospector Golf Course was named one of Golfweek Magazine's "Top 100 Residential Courses".

Last season, ASU and Denver started the spring season with a dual at Superstition Mountain and the Sun Devils shot their lowest round of the season to that point (278) as all six Sun Devils competing shot at or below par behind Roberta Liti and Madison Kerley's career-low rounds.

Arizona State was ranked No. 6 in Golfstat rankings to end the fall season and No. 12 by Golfweek.

Individually, sophomore Olivia Mehaffey is ranked No. 13 in the world in Women's Amateur Golf Rankings (WAGR).

My first story on the year for @sportscronkite focuses on the 2017 @NCAA champs, @SunDevilWGolf & their quest for a second consecutive title.

In November, ASU signed German National Team member Alexandra Försterling (Berlin, Germany) and PING Junior Solheim Cup member Alessandra Fanali (Fiuggi, Italy) to National Letters of Intent.

During a busy fall season for the Sun Devils, they traveled from Nashville to Chicago, Austin to Hawai'i, and Atlanta over a seven-week span, earning four top-3 finishes in five tournaments, including a win at the Windy City Collegiate Classic in October.
