TEMPE, Ariz.-- Following an incredible week at the plate, senior catcher Sashel Palacios has earned Pac-12 Player of the Week honors, announced by the league office Tuesday morning.

"What an honor for Sash," head coach Trisha Ford said. "She has continued to be a rock for our team both offensively and defensively. She continues to put in work day in and day out and it is really starting to show."

In her five games last week, Palacios led the team with eight hits in her 15 at-bats, including a team-high six home runs. Palacios batted an incredible .533 on the week, leading the pack of four different Sun Devils who batted above .300 through the five-game home stand.

Entering the week, Palcios had connected on just six extra base hits, including two home runs and a pair of doubles, while bringing in 17 RBI. Just in the last week, Palacios doubled her extra base hits, and carded 11 RBI, including a career-high six RBI in Sunday night's win over Oregon State.

With the honor today, Palacios became the second player this year to earn Pac-12 Player of the Week recognition as fellow senior Chelsea Gonzales earned the honor on March 14. For ASU, Palacios' honor marks the 47th- time a Sun Devil player has earned Player of the Week recognition, and is the 15th- Player of the Week honor for ASU since the league expanded in 2011. 

The Sun Devils will return to action this weekend, as the team will travel to Eugene, Ore., to face No. 1/3 Oregon for a three-game series set to begin Friday at 6 p.m. Fans can follow all of the action from the 2017 softball season by following @ASUSoftball on Twitter.
