TEMPE, Ariz - The Arizona State gymnastics program grew stronger Wednesday, as head coach Jay Santos and the Gym Devil squad announced the signing of Stephanie Tripodi of North Star Gymnastics Academy in Boonton, New Jersey, to a National Letter of Intent.
Arizona State will welcome Tripodi to Tempe next fall.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Steph to our program," said Santos. "I feel she is going to be a good fit both athletically and academically in the culture we are forming and the direction that we are headed as a program. She is a strong vaulter and tumbler and we are definitely looking for her to contribute on those events."
"What attracted me most to Arizona State was the creativity and the liveliness in the school and in all the students and staff," noted Tripodi. "I am beyond excited to be joining such an amazing team and to be a part of such an innovative school."
An accomplished competitor at the club national championship level, Tripodi prepped under Tony and Paula Geham at North Star Gymnastics Academy. The Doylestown, Pennsylvania native notably took second place in the all-around at the 2017 New Jersey State Championship, finishing with a tally 37.5 to her credit. Additionally, the Gym Devil newcomer placed in first on beam, second on floor, and fifth on vault at the 2017 NJ State Championship.
