SCENE SETTER: The @SunDevilMTennis team has three players competing November 1-5 at the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championship held at Indian Wells Tennis Garden near Palm Springs, Calif. The event marks the conclusion of the fall collegiate tennis season and includes 128 of the nation's top collegiate singles players (64-player draws for men and women) and 64 doubles teams (32 men's teams and 32 women's teams). Matches take place at the JW Marriott Desert Springs Resort & Spa and the Indian Wells Tennis Garden. Players qualified for the tournament through designated placings at earlier ITA National Championships and the ITA Regional Championships Presented by Oracle.
HANNESTAD UPDATE: Benjamin Hannestad, now 9-3 in the fall, topped Tim Sandkaulen of Ole Miss 6-3, 6-7 (6), 6-1 to start the ITA Fall Championships on Wednesday morning in the round of 64. Hannestad earned the trip as the Southwest Regional champion. He fell to third-seeded Petros Chrysochos of Wake Forest 7-6 (0), 6-3 on Thursday.
GEERTS UPDATE: Michael Geerts, the 11th-seed and the third highest Pac-12 seed, fell to Jackie Tang of Columbia 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 on Wednesday. In the first round of the consolation on Thursday, he topped Eduardo Mena of Tennessee Tech 7-5, 5-7, 7-6 (4) and will now face Mike Pervolarakis of Portland in the consolation round of 16 on Friday at 10:30 a.m.
DOUBLES UPDATE: Southwest Regional doubles champions Hannestad and Tim Ruehl fell to the third-seeded Florida State squad of Jose Gracia and Lucas Poullain 7-5, 6-1 on Wednesday. On Thursday the duo fell to Florida's Oliver Crawford and ChasePerez-Bianco 6-7 (1), 6-3, 10-7 and finished the fall with a 5-2 record.

MORE THAN ONE IN SINGLES: ASU was one of 15 schools and one of three Pac-12 schools to have had at least two players in contention for the 64-player singles title. Georgia had four while Baylor, Florida State, Mississippi State and Ohio State had three players.
