TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE (As of 11/2)
TEMPE – After spending most of the fall season on the road, Sun Devil women's tennis returns to the Whiteman Tennis Center this weekend for the 23rd Thunderbird Invitational. The tournament will feature women from nine programs across the country including Ohio State, Oklahoma and Pac-12 rival California.
While just two Sun Devils will participate in the tournament, as true freshman Sasa Klanecek and sophomore Savannah Slaysman are expected to lace up for ASU, the field of 32 women and 24 total doubles matches is sure to provide exciting matchups across the three-day event.
ASU will be joined by the Big Ten's Ohio State and Illinois, Oklahoma from the Big 12, Pac-12 rival California, the ACC's Notre Dame, in-state rival Northern Arizona, the University of San Diego and Fresno State.
The action gets started at 8:30 a.m. PT in Tempe with the first round of doubles matches. At 9:15, the top half of the singles main draw begins, and the bottom half follows at 11. The top half of the main draw's second round and top half of the consolation draw's first round will begin at 12:30 p.m., and the bottom half of each draw will begin at 2.
Saturday will feature the same start time and matches will be played regularly until the completion of the consolation and main draw semifinals, scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
While daylight savings will affect the rest of the country on Sunday, Arizona will not be falling back, but will move from PT to MT. Therefore, Sunday's action begins at 8:30 a.m. MT, but the clocks will not change in the Grand Canyon State.
