TEMPE, Ariz. – After a long break in between their first two competitions, Sun Devil triathlon has had just a week to prepare for the Eastern Regional Qualifier in Sarasota, Fla. on Saturday, Oct. 7 at 5 pm ET/2 pm PT.

The race is part of a larger two-day Sarasota-Bradenton Triathlon Festival, which features an Age Group Draft-Legal World Qualifier, an Age Group Non-Draft Open Sprint Triathlon, as well as the ITU World Cup and ITU Paratriathlon World Cup.

The Sun Devils won their first competition of the season, finishing all seven in order in early September's Central Regional Qualifier in Naperville, Ill., finishing second at the Western Regional Qualifier in Berkeley, Calif. last weekend.

In Naperville, Hannah Henry, Katie Gorczyca, and Kyla Roy medaled while in Berkeley, Charlotte Ahrens earned her second consecutive win in the race while Grace Obando finished fourth. Obando, Ahrens, and freshman Catherine Giuseffi recently earned All-Region honors from Berkeley.

Following Saturday's race, ASU will set their sights on November's USA Triathlon Collegiate National Championship, which will be in Tempe on Sunday, Nov. 5. Prior to the collegiate race, the inaugural Ignite the Fork age group triathlon will take place.
